how to use HP items...

in fear of sounding like a huge noob how do i use hp items on openkore?, i used this program a wile back and it was simple type the name of the item and the % of hp to use it well i did the same thing i did a wile back but nothing he just keeps killing like a moron and dies. so if any of you would b so kind as to showing me how to config useself_item that would b grand
