Making my own webserver (Need help)

#1 Post by malufwet »

I use Apache, and Vista

What i've done
Installed apache(chose port 80), port forwarded(router), opened port 80 TCP(windows firewall exception). Tested localhost(displayed "It works!").
I have static WAN IP.

now here's my problem,
When i use the PFPortChecker, it says TCP port 80 is not open or not reachable, but the UDP port 80 is open. I've even tried dejacey.net to test if my website can be seen by others, it says connection timed out. I've used my WAN IP to visit my site over the internet with or without :80 at the end, still connection timed out.

can anyone help me?

Could be a misconfiguration. Try a WAMP package and see if it works. I recommend XAMPP. Also check your Windows firewall settings.

thanks sli.

recently i've discovered that my ISP is blocking port 80(damn why did'nt they tell us).
It doesn't matter what program I use, because my port is blocked.

Now its working, I changed the port where apache will listen.

Yea, WAMP is very easy to set up.
Hmm, maybe my ISP is blocking port 80 too.
I should try another port.
One ST0 to rule them all? One PE viewer to find them!
One ST_kRO to bring them all and in the darkness bind them...
