I don't use my pc when I'm botting. And I'm botting 24/7.
My computer's specs:
Processor: Core i3 2100 @ 3.1 Ghz
Memory: 8 Ggb
Videocard: GeForce GTS 450 128bit 1gb sddr3
How many bots should I run and how much sleepTime should I put in my config.txt?
What do I do to optimize my computer for botting?

I also have a spare computer that almost have the same specs(4GB RAM) as yours and I dual-booted it to CentOS(Linux). The last time I tried(Like a year ago), I can run 50 bots(SleepTime 50000) on it since Linux doesn't really take up much RAM than Win 7.

Here's a handy guide on running Openkore on Linux machines. http://wiki.openkore.com/index.php/How_to_run_OpenKore
How do you retrieve the items from your bots?

Try sleepTime 180000
I use corei5 4gig ram
30 bots = 20 - 40% or less.

I tried it and really works excellent! thanks man!
64 bots = 10 - 30%. But sometimes jumping to 90% for less than a second.
Another problem is my internet connection. 1mbps is weak for that a lot of bots. :(
I'll try sleepTime 200000. hehe! I wanna try linux for dual OS. I hope it'll work on my pc.
Thanks again man!

Just dont set any value higher than 200000 or else your bot wont move.

btw, making sleepTime higher lowers the response rate of the program and the bot itself,
but for almost 3 years botting never had a problem with it, good luck!

Bot still responds @ sleepTime 200000. I haven't tried it to run for 24 hours but I'll try it out. :)

I'm trying to make my bots set sleepTime depending on how many bots are running.
I don't know if someone has already started something like this. If so, please do tell me. :)

Don't know of anyone that's done that, but, to throw you a few ideas, but you'll have to sort out how to glue it all together:

You could get all your instances to communicate to one another over the Bus:
Bus (wiki entry)
busCommand plugin by iMikeLance

You could make a macro or plugin that could count up the connections on the Bus.

It'd be easy at that point, to make some sort of plugin/macro that could monitor the Bus for a count of instances running/connected, so that you could do a "conf sleepTime NewSleepTimeValueHere" as the connected instances go up/down.

Hope that gets you started along the way.

And, not to veer off the original thread itself -- perl is a pig for memory (RAM), by design. sleepTime settings in your configuration will make the bot use less CPU time, but too large a value will make the bot unresponsive.

Not to start an OS war, but the way openkore's binaries are built for windows, it runs essentially a full instance of perl + openkore when lauching each start.exe (or wxstart.exe). Because each is loading it's own instance of perl and associated libraries, the windows binaries will consume more ram than on an environment that has perl already installed, and you run instances of the openkore.pl script on the one common perl interpreter. It's an easy and convenient way to run openkore, but convenience has it's costs.

The idea is redundant,
no matter how many youre botting,
it is wise to save cpu and ram as much as possible,
plus sleepTime 10k - 200k does only have a little effect on bot's performance on a low-rate server,
(Since spamming are less likely to happen)
I bot farmers with 180k sleepTime,
bot my main and slave with 100k,
I tried to make a pvp bot, I used atleast 50k-80k for it to react fast enough tho the effect is too little.
In conclusion, sleepTime for each bot must retain at a constant STABLE value
to avoid, over-heating and cpu stress + to conserve ram.
Just like old times.
