Activate Macro on events

Hello guys... I am new on this macro thing and I wanted to know: is there any way to a macro activate (start) when certain events happen? for example: i want to activate a macro when I have 290 itens on storage and other macro when I receive a certain PM.
How can I do that? Can you guys help me?
