Are you running poseidon inside a virtual machine? If not, I recommend to run it in a virtual machine so you dont need to install perl.

There is no other way to say this so I'm just gonna be straight with you.

I don't know what you're talking about.

What is a virtual machine? Please talk to me like I'm stupid cause I am.

EDIT: btw I think I have perl cause if I type "perl -v" in cmd it shows perl v5.18.2, if that helps in anyway.

Also, here's what I have done so far so please let me know if I missed something or got something wrong:

1. extracted clientinfo.xml>renamed to poseidon.xml>edited values according to wiki.
2. edited config.txt > gameGuard 2
3. edited(copy/pasted) all the changes that you mentioned would have to be made in previous posts.

then when I try to run start-poseidon.exe, I get these compilation failed errors:
c:/perl/.../base.pm line10
.../openkore/src/poseidon/utils/exceptions.pm line 51
etc...

Virtual machine is a way to run a "computer" inside your computer. Arrgh, I am a lost for words. :D :D You could start here.

Is the IP address listed in ipconfig /all?

So its like an emulator? If so, I think I get it now. Any recommendations as to what I should use? Preferably one that is for free.
