Upgrading to phpBB 3.3

#1 Post by itsrachelfish »

For the past decade the OpenKore forums have been running on an old version of phpBB in a serious state of disrepair. Spambots running rampant, security vulnerabilities waiting to be exploited. Over the years many developers from the community have tried to upgrade the forums to newer versions of phpBB or convert the forums to other software entirely. Unfortunately all of these previous attempts were met with problems and the volunteers who started on them gave up half way through.

Today we are happy to announce that the forums have finally been upgraded to phpBB 3.3 on our test server - http://newforums.openkore.com/

Over the next 24 hours we will be testing the new site to make sure nothing is seriously broken. We encourage you to test things out and let us know if you find any problems. Please note that these new forums were set up using a database export from last week, so any posts made within the past few days will not be there. After our tests are complete, the OpenKore website will be put into maintenance mode while we migrate everything to the new server.

Thank you for being a part of the OpenKore community!

It's live! The maintenance is complete.

Openkore's wiki and forums have now been updated to the latest versions of MediaWiki and phpBB. Additionally we set up https using LetsEncrypt.
