You can always use a different forum skin like I do (I had the same complaint you did).
Got your topic trashed by a mod?
Trashing topics is one click, and moving a topic to its proper forum is a lot harder. You expend the least effort in deciding where to post, mods expend the least effort by trashing.

you can checkout the forums sli and add the mods 
but you have to be sure they actually work (though only me, isieo and kali can do a checkout on the server)
