I've thought long and hard about it...

#1 Post by sli »

And I'm leaving the RO community. I have other, more pressing priorities and RO bots just do not fit into them. So, yes, after all I've said and the code I've written, Erok is suspended. Anyone should feel free to pick it up, I don't care what happens to it or what's done with it. All it needs is a completed AI and the network code. Actually not a huge hump.

Aaaanyway... I have yet to see any direction. Hell, even the attempt at it has failed, and almost miserably. AI 2008 was a good start but frankly, it feels too little too late. No one seems interested in imposing proper standards (re: the entire forum, God damn) and there's only so much I can do by myself. I'm tired of the idiots, I'm tired of the stagnation, and most of all I'm tired of the fucking disrespect I get from everyone but the pillars of this community (you know who you are) which is the whole reason I'm a complete and total douche to everyone in the first place. I expect the reactions I get, so I don't bother in any way with trying to prevent them.

Hopefully my years and years of dedication and admiration for this project won't be lost to posterity, but I suppose I don't care if it does. There was a time when I lived and breathed for Kore, but it's long over.

The best to all of you. I'd post a video of a sincere and respectful bow to everyone, but it's almost 6AM and I just don't feel like it.

Bonus: Exactly 1,000 posts.

I got first dibs on sli's patents on the snarl and snarl-like notification systems :)

Hope you find your way back when Gravity unleashes their next annoying idea. If RO were to actually persist that long.
Got your topic trashed by a mod?

Trashing topics is one click, and moving a topic to its proper forum is a lot harder. You expend the least effort in deciding where to post, mods expend the least effort by trashing.

Have a nice day.

I suddenly had an image of OpenKore crashing down right before me.

Probably the main reason why this Forum has not-been-that-stagnant, and now he calls it quits. Nwei, God Bless in your endeavors Sli, I have great respect for you.

*sigh* You'll be missed, but you're always welcomed back here man. I kinda saw the frustrations that you've mentioned and yes, it is a definite hurdle we gotta work on. =/ lol on the 1,000 posts

Truly, a great loss for the openkore community.
It wasn't hard to see this coming, your ennoyance with all problems that OK is dealing with now was very clear.
If there was someone that was not afraid to criticize and to provoke tought, it was you.
That often lead to fierce discussions and sometimes inspiring idea's.
Erok was one of the reasons convincing me that change needs to happen for openkore, asap.
I now see some that are afraid of change,
many that do not see that change is needed and stick with the old,
or most that simply do not want to put any effort into change, because they think that they can't make the difference.
People, lets face it. Without change, openkore is just going to rot from the inside.
Sli tried to, but could not change openkore, so now he has changed and moved on.
He will be missed. When you find time, be sure to drop in IRC once in a while.

As for the future of openkore.
It has no use for us to keep on thinking how it came this far or what went wrong,
we can't just passively stand on the sideline hoping that the problems will go away.
It is time to actively do something, to change kore for the better.
What openkore needs is a revolution.
I believe that the AI 2008 project is a step in the right direction.
So, if you want to contribute.
Now is the time!
One ST0 to rule them all? One PE viewer to find them!
One ST_kRO to bring them all and in the darkness bind them...

Mount Doom awaits us, fellowship of OpenKore!

YOU SUCK SLI.....I HATE YOU.....GOOD F***ING RIDDANCE!

Just kidding, the world is a better place because of you. We all understand burnout. Thanks for what you've done.

Besides, you'll be back, won't you? I can't live without you, Sli. What will I do? Who else will listen? I feel so lost. It's like a part of me is dying. Cold...so very cold.....must not give in...

I have an idea. How about we make sli's post count back to 995? Then he gets to post five more times before saying goodbye again :P

Well... shit, I didn't know it was like that, everyone. Maybe I should rethink this.

And if you do anything to my post count, let it be this:

Code: Select all

ALTER TABLE `phpbb_users` CHANGE `user_posts` `user_posts` FLOAT( 8 ) UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT '0'
UPDATE `phpbb`.`phpbb_users` SET `user_posts` = `user_posts` + 0.37 WHERE `phpbb_users`.`user_id` =126 LIMIT 1 ;
