Asking for assistance from a GM on official RO servers

#1 Post by Mina »

I wasn't sure where to put this, as it's not really a "support" question for anything in the actual OpenKore program and I can't seem to find any discussion on this particular topic. I found a lot of threads about how people are banned, but it's not quite what I was looking for. I apologize in advance if it's not in the right area.
I'll try to keep this short.

Has anyone who has botted asked the GMs for assistance with something? Let's just say that I was a casual botter, using the program to level up and I tried to stay as lowkey as I knew how. Sometimes I would leave the bot on overnight, but that's about it. The last time I botted was about a year and half ago.
Ehh...So yeah, am I running a risk of being banned simply by asking for help from a GM?

Another thing I'm curious about - Do they have logs of every conversation we've ever had on the game?

Thank you. :)

I donno if GM's of officials servers ever came by here.
But I do know a few things.
First of all, There exist a script, that pack's up the DB (Because in time, it will only grow). Donno how it's working, but may-be that's the result.

Also, they have a a tool called "GM Solution", that is used to find items in game, view/edit storage/equip/stats/etc.

And they also have logs. But thus Log's are cleaned depending on how often the "DB Clean" script is called.

BTW. What is your server?

It probably depends on what kind of help you're asking for. But in general, I don't think so.

A bot of mine has once been banned because the account repeatedly received an automatic ban due to the IP I was using. After I asked a Tech GM to unban me like 3 times he obviously grew suspicious and checked the bot, thus leading the account to get banned immediately.
That, however, is a whole different story than "Once upon a time, I used a bot..." and I do not think any usual requests could be that suspicious.

Either way, if your last botting activity was that long ago, I doubt that any logs which would possibly back up any suspicions still exist. It's also hard to say what kind of logs would be enough to justify a ban, since catching a bot usually requires you to actually run one and a GM watching/testing it at the same time. Plus, it's very unlikely that a GM would browse through old logs for no reason, especially since they tend to be pretty busy helping all those players.

When I was still playing bRO and needed some looters to support my main characters, I used to wait until they accumulate a good amount of zeny, transfer all the zeny and important items to my main character and then delete the (looter) character and stop using that account. This way they probably can't ban you by connecting the banned bot with your main character. They never caught my main account :D.

As for botting with your main account i can't help you. If you want to be a little more safe you can keep your character somewhere around the map without moving and use some other good PvM class to leech your main character. They can still ban you by connecting your main characters with that bot, but they never did it at bRO with me.
