afaik, still by human intelligence.
Altough here is a paper i've read a while ago that describes other idea's for bot/human distinguishing methods:

paper wrote:However, identifying whether or not a character is controlled by a bot is difficult, since a botcontrolled
character obeys the game rules completely. The state of the practice of bot identification is to manually
launch a dialogue with a suspect character, as a bot cannot talk like a human.
paper wrote:Although companies try to prevent the use
of game bots, automatic bot detection mechanisms are not
currently available; thus, bot-controlled characters can only
be identified manually through human intelligence. That is,
game masters try to open online dialogues with suspicious
characters; based on their responses or lack of responses, the
game masters can decide if they are actually bot-controlled
or human-controlled. However, this method is very inefficient
given millions of online players, and leads to a significant administrative
burden. The biggest restriction is that the method
can only be applied if certain characters are suspected first.

Would you like me to write a paper on how to distinguish bots in Raganarok?

Re: How do gms find you botting?
i believe isieo coded a data mining bot searching program before, success rate was 70% he says. I say that is quite a good rate if searching for default settings. This is because openkore for example has quite strict reaction time for example and is able to be compared with.
Generally, I believe it isnt undoable but just the act of writing something would be ridiculously complex. At the same time if this software emerges on the net, randomization can always be put into the reaction time, play logic (eg: I think atm bots always follow a set autobuy, storage, sell logic), etc. However I believe in the end, the overall winner will always be the bot searchers if the bot is quite public such as this.

Re: How do gms find you botting?
I had a iro member email me saying We need you to explain why there were multiple illegal 3rd party programs running from your exact same location.
They ban one of my files for botting and i was trying to get it back but didnt know what to say. So do they have a program that can tell them im running a bot? Or are they just humoring me?
Also if any1 knows any tips to getting away with botting that would be helpful.

Re: How do gms find you botting?
They just track your IP Address and then they can see if there was a 3rd party program running your RO. If they do find that out then they will also ban any similarily named accounts that you have run on that IP, but only if they have traded with the previously banned account.kirabot wrote:I had a iro member email me saying We need you to explain why there were multiple illegal 3rd party programs running from your exact same location.

Re: How do gms find you botting?
whatever hack protection they use can see what processes you're running, that's why it can tell you when you're running an illegal 3rd party programpedrao wrote:***and then they can see if there was a 3rd party program running your RO***

iRO doesn't use any anti-hack or anti-bot applications... bots are fairly easy to spot if you know what you're looking for.
Besides, running something on a customer computer to scan their entire memory and then sending that data to yourself is against privacy laws
You're allowed to scan the memory of your OWN software, but nothing else...
