I'm botting on Valkyrie after a long time (around 2 years) and so far I've been rather discrete about it. I generally sit next to my computer and keep checking the status every now and then. I also bot in empty areas even if the exp is not as good as other, more populated areas.
What I want to know is how active are the iRO Valkyrie GM's? How often do they ban low level, discrete, empty map bots? Has anyone here been banned at Valkyrie? How did it happen?
Chances of getting caught?

Re: Chances of getting caught?
i haven't seen too many bots getting banned on valkyrie, i think one of the factors is that it's the free server. Gravity is probably more concerned with the p2p servers

They aggressively ban on Valkyrie. Being there and using macros/plugins to beep when you are getting checked is the best way. Not being afk while getting bot checked is the best way to not get banned.
Oh no.

Motivus is right.
If you're botting to actually play on the server i would suggest only botting when you're at your computer.
They're pretty quick with the ban stick when a report comes in.
I also once had my bots banned when none of them got PM'd. A random zealous GM doing a sweep?

Re: Chances of getting caught?
Only Been botting for two weeks but i have a good ammount of bots running while i'm not there and have had no problems, and it also seems there are tons of bots all over the place that are not having any problems either. So to me it seems safe enough. Also it would probably be a good idea to transfer all money and loot to a main character you have that isn't a bot that's what i do so even if my bots get banned what did i loose? some semi good gear i give them? it's not like you took the time to level them up and the account is free. Hope it helps!

They trace the IP, and don't instantly ban if they see a large farm. They wait a few to see who does the farm transfers too, then ban farm + main account. Trade/drop/mail is logged.

Re: Chances of getting caught?
Hmm interesting, well I don't trade my stuff so that's good, it's faster to just go to an empty spot in pront and open up 2 clients and drop items then pick up with my oc'er who is my main non bot so there is never any money trading going on or trade windows opening up so that's good i guess. plus i don't have more than one bot on any one particular map. But i did get some message that Kross was on the screen on 2 of my 6 bots so i logged them out and then played them a little bit manually havn't logged them back in yet guess we'll see what happens. Worse case my accounts get banned and i make new ones, they are free after all.

Re: Chances of getting caught?
There is something we need to understand: everything is logged, so theres no safe trading method. Dropping something on an empty space and picking it afterwards, is as suspicious as trading it, mailing it, feeding it to a poring and killing it after, etc.
There is no safe trading method
What you can do, is try to make their job harder, doing things like many dummy accs, doing your trades on crowded maps on busy hours, deal with as many people as you can, use as many IPs as you can, etc. Chances is we all gonna get caught sooner or later, point is making that day as far as we can (hopefully so far Gravity breaks first).

Re: Chances of getting caught?
I found trading the dropping to have the same ban rate.
They managed to trace the loot back to my main regardless of whether i dropped trade or actual trade.
For now i'm just botting for fun, no mains or anything. :]

Re: Chances of getting caught?
I've heard a rumour that on eagis every item and zeny has some sort of unique ID,
wich makes every transaction tracable. (can anyone confirm this?)
If so then safest would be influencing the market so you can profit from its fluctuations
or simply letting a trusted community benefit from your botting who in their place can help you out.
For example, if you get banned, the community will be able to help you to restore faster.
Ofcourse whilst all communication happening over a different medium than RO.
Botting for items is just one piece of the cake, tho many ways lead to rome so be creative.
I'm talking about projects like the mercdb.
But wait, are you guys even botting on a different IP than the one your run your main chars off?
If so then it might be best to prevent than to cure
or in other words to monitor your bots and prevent them being suspected in the first place.
I could imagine a trusted community being able to monitor every members bots around the clock using every possible means.
ex. IRC monitoring combined with limited acces xkore2 to react for every member.
Don't forget that to everything comes an end, you will get caught, the only question is when.
So you'd better have a fast way to restore whenever that happens.
muhahaha
