In my server, there is a Item Mall item that called Megaphone. It allow us the player to write our message and then 'publish' it on the entire server so that anyone on that server can see out message. The problem is, whenever anyone write and 'publish' message that contains ' . ' (dot) character in it, the bot will make the computer sound beep and beep.

Something similiar is happening to me, I got some bots in the hugel race in my server and aparently some people found out that sending a lot of "°°°°°°" in the Public channel will cause the computers that are running the bots to beep A LOT an sometimes even disconnect.
That is VERY annoying, is there some way to stop this? Is there someway to make my bot not listen any messages from other players at all? I think this would solve the problem.
edit: The server is bRO Thor, if it makes any diference.

Too many threads on this matter.
Its not actually a bug, everything is working as intended but the beeping can be ennoying sideeffect indeed.
Here's a hint on how to "filter" the dots, you have to edit the source or make a plugin ofcourse.

Alternatively what about a config option like squelchCharacters?

List of other ASCII control codes that can cause sideeffects

hehe, type this in your cmd commandline: echo ctrl+G
^G is the Mnemonic for the BEL character. (Alexander Graham Bell?!) ;)
One ST0 to rule them all? One PE viewer to find them!
One ST_kRO to bring them all and in the darkness bind them...
